Did it ever occur to you that most of us live like caged animals? While our bodies might be just right for a long-distance run, we are happy if we can drag our bodies from the bed to the breakfast table; then to the office chair; back to the TV seat and then trod along to the bed.
Things were not as bad as this earlier, when an average American farmer would jog equivalent to 15 miles every day with his wife covering nearly 7 miles.
Here are some things you could do every day, to make your body get some amount of exercise:
1. Make sure that you get quality sleep as this can help you do exercises. If you feel tired, you are not likely to do any physical activity during the day. Moreover, people who feel lethargic would always overeat, where the extra food helps them to sleep more.
2. Give walking the importance it deserves. This could be the only exercise that you do every day, but do it. Over time, make sure that you do 30 minutes of brisk walking five times a week. This not only has health benefits but also keeps your mental health in top form.
3. Use the treadmill. Inclement weather might prevent you to take a walk outside. But having a treadmill in front of the TV can help you watch your favorite show while working out on the machine. None of us can do without a television, but having a treadmill can help you kill two birds with one stone – watch TV while losing weight!
4. “I don’t have the time” is perhaps the most common excuse for not doing any physical activity during the day. This can be true to some extent also. Therefore it might be a good idea to include some form of exercise into your daily work schedule. Do as much exercise as you think is good without allowing it to interfere with your working or family life.
You have to remember that you are doing yourself tons of good by doing exercises, which can prevent a host of diseases from invading your body once you gain excess weight. When you are healthy and fit, you are giving yourself as well as your loved ones a gift they would treasure.
